My version of a hair trial

I figured the wedding is right around the corner, so I might as well see what I want done and take a couple of pictures for Emily to see what I may have in mind (a low chignon/bun with a jeweled headband). Here's some (really) rough drafts of what I think I want. :)

And side.

I really like this picture with the veil.

Do you have any idea how hard it is taking a picture of your head by yourself? I do now.

DIY, oh why.

My wedding DIY projects sounded fun at first. Heck, they WERE fun... for about 10 minutes. However, many things took longer than I expected and then I became easily distracted.

Now I have a few projects started: a couple on the way to being done, several sitting on Beth's mental shelves (you know, waiting for that flash on inspiration and motivation) and not enough done.

Here are a few in progress:

PROGRAMS

Actual Cover (so far)

The cover:
Black Card stock with silver embossed monogram (EMT) and date (November 14, 2009)

It's easier to read in person. The flash created a reflection on the silver

Test embossing on card stock scrap

It says "All you need is love"

Thinking about using it on the program somewhere (maybe back) if I can get the right red embossing powder.

I was thinking about using this tree in between the Silver monogram and date on the cover.

That is, if I can find the right red embossing powder.

CARD BOX

The card box is four 8x10 picture frames, holding four of our engagement pictures, connected at the corners with some braided cord. Almost done. I just need to finish the top. Yay.

FAVOR BAGS

These are done! The above picture is actually a mess up, but they look very similar.

They are cellophane treat bags (for holding the candy the guest collects from the candy centerpieces) with a card held on with a red M wax seal.

The card reads:

Love is Sweet

Thank you for celebrating our day with us.
Please help yourself to some candy.

That's it for now. When I complete the above, or take pictures of the rest, I will update.

Until next time...

The happier type of shower!

This past weekend, I was the lady of honor at a bridal shower thrown by my two lovely aunts. Things were traditional: tasty foods, cheesy games and lovely relatives. It was wonderful. :)

Scrumptious Petit Fours

All of these wonderful women came out to celebrate with me in the pouring down rain.

One of my favorite gifts that I'll never use for the intended purpose.
These gloves will never clean toilets if I have anything to do with it.

Wedding showers bring....

Floods?

The light area above is the Yellow River. News reports claimed the river was about 100 feet outside it's banks.

Hills in Georgia + Gravity + a ton of rain = the water running down the hill to our house and our neighbor's house and yard.
Neighbor's house

Part of our backyard

The water pooling outside the house, getting reading to invade the basement.

These pictures were taken pretty early on, too.

We were lucky. Several were not.

And this is what happens....

At the end of my last post (what was it? over a month ago?), I said that my next one would be wedding free. Look what happens when you are a bride with three months left until the wedding and four months worth of work to do. Wedding is constantly on my mind.

To be fair to anyone who may be reading my blog, I can't make those promises to you guys anymore. If I blog, it will most likely be wedding related. That's what I seem to be these days: a bride.

Apologies.

Location, location...

I felt like posting again today, so here I am.

As most of you know, we are getting married in Fernandina Beach. No, not on the beach. That has been done too many times before. Besides, that's not quite our style. Instead, we will be getting married downtown. That's where we met. That's where we had many dates. That's where we fell in love. Maybe not downtown, but we did fall in love in that area of south Georgia/north Florida. Hey, that counts, right?

We'll be getting married here:It's a mini park in downtown Fernandina.

The reception is being held here:This will be in the hotel.

My next post should be wedding free. Hopefully. :)

Shoes!

I found THE shoes for the wedding at Macy's yesterday. Best part? They were on sale! Thank you sale days!

They are red Bandolinos that go with the red in my dress perfectly. I am beyond excited. Shoe shopping hasn't agreed with me much in the past, due to my short, wide feet with high arches. Not to mention I incline to pick flip flops and flats over heels and real people shoes. But I suppose it's time to grow up and, on my wedding day, I will be wearing these.

Of course, I'm thinking practical right now as well. Once my feet tire of wearing those shoes, and they will, I have a back up pair.

I can't forget my trusty Reef flip flops now, can I?

A dress for Beth, and, yes, for less!

I found my dress and it's beautiful. I went to try it on yesterday and it fit like a dream. I'm so getting it.

Best news is...... I also found it for over $250 less than the store would charge me! It is a dream bargain!

I'll put pictures up later, once I know the Timmy won't read my blog.

One reason to hate movers

Unpredictability.

The Timmy moved from south Georgia the end of April to the Charlotte, NC area. We are STILL waiting on his movers to deliver his things. Not very happy.

The small print (that they give you AFTER they load your things) says they have 21 days to get your things to you. The Timmy figured out that the 21 days will be up tomorrow. Still waiting.

I've been sitting around an empty apartment, waiting to hear that they would be there soon. No such luck, yet.

Let me remind you that the movers have his things. No tv, no furniture, nothing. There is a leaky blowup bed and a folding chair. Thank goodness for books and laptops or I would be going insane. Right now, I am in the apartment complexes club house, using the free wifi. Thank you, Village at Lake Wylie, for having free wifi available for your residents.

But something positive to note: The Timmy and I are getting married in exactly six months! November 14, 2009: Here We Come!

Inspiration comes cheap

I have been searching the internet for tips and ideas to make my wedding unique on a budget, and my search results keep leading me to other blogs. I can do that. I told myself. So I did.

And here we are! Welcome to my blog. I will be updating everyone on the going ons in my life. This should be interesting...
