Gender prediction Old Wives Tales (OWT)

Until I can get the doctor to officially check the gender of our personal crib midget, I'm going to try some OWT to have fun and pass time.

One that I've already "done" is the heartbeat check: Over 140- Girl, Under 140- Boy

Winner (with a heartbeat of 160)= Girl

Tonight's OWT: (text taken from some baby website)

Needle or Wedding Ring Gender Prediction Method

This an easy baby gender prediction method to try. Take a pin, needle, or wedding ring and attach it to a thread or strand of hair. Hold the dangling item over mom to be's belly while she is lying down. If the needle or wedding ring swings in a strong circular motion, you will be having a girl. If it moves in a to and fro motion like a pendulum, you will be having a boy.

An alternate version of this baby gender prediction method is to dangle the needle or wedding ring over the expectant mom's wrist instead of belly.

I did this one tonight, over belly and over wrist. Both of them swung strongly in a circular motion.

Winner: Girl

So that's 2 OWT for girl so far. 0 for boy.

Do you guys know of any more I can try? Or should I just hit the internet for suggestions?

google madame zaritska. she predicts with hilarious results.

shape of baby bump - watermelon, boy - basket ball, girl

    cravings - salty =boy sweet = girl

look into mirror, holding down bottom eye lid. look for a red V shape out of veins lol. the right eye is a boy, left eye is a girl. this is the only one that predicted all 3 of my kids! sounds crazy i know, but arent they all just to help you pass the 9 months.

    good luckxx.

  4. No bubble burst, anonymous. These OWT are just done in fun. I don't strongly believe in any of them. I know some people do and that's up to them. I haven't let anyone know what gender I believe baby is yet.

As for the Chinese calendar, I believe those are as unreliable as these OWTs. I've heard too many mixed results from actual people and I've even looked at the calendar on several different websites. Why several? That is going to be one of the OWT blogs coming up in the next few weeks.

But, you know what? Thanks for commenting on this blog ang giving me another OWT to try out (in fun). :)

  5. Hi Beth for some reason my previous comment came up anonymous. I definitely thought I was signed in. Either way I hope you're having fun with all of the OWTs. (and yes I agree on the several different calendars- why so many?) Hopefully you get to find out soon what you're really having! That and my baby-shower were some of my most favorite parts of pregnancy. Good luck and I hope you're feeling well.
